Trudy Alexi, "Jewish Identity in a Hostile Climate,"

Jewish Historical Society of Southern Arizona Sunday, January 25, 2004, 11:30 a.m. Brunch at the Tanque Verde Guest Ranch $22.00 per person. Presentation by Trudi Alexy, author of the best selling book, The Mezuzah in the Madonna’s Foot. Ms. Alexy will speak about "Jewish Identity in a Hostile Climate," as she traces her own story of a girl raised as a Catholic in Europe who then becomes a well-known and respected American author. She expands her perspective to include all conversos in North America. The Marrano Legacy: A Contemporary Crypto-Jewish Priest Reveals Secrets of His Double Life is the title of her new book. The main character is Simon, who became a Catholic priest in order to protect a community of secret Jews in Latin America. We also learn more about Trudi Alexy’s personal story. Ms. Alexy has agreed to autograph copies of her books, which will be on sale at this Tucson event of the JHSSA.
