Guillermo Lazo

Kulanu “All of Us” Sunday, February 15, 2004, 11:00 a.m., Handmaker Jewish Services - in the Great Room, 2221 N. Rosemont (just south of Grant). Presentation by Guillermo Lazo, one of Kulanu’s representatives for Mexican Affairs. After Guillermo Lazo became aware of his Crypto-Judaic ancestry, he studied at the Denver Institute for Judaic Studies. In 2000, he received his certificate of GER at Tikvat Israel Congregation in Rockville, MD. In addition to his personal journey to Judaism, Mr. Lazo will tell us about anusim communities in Mexico, their locations, and the many problems facing these groups of people. Read Mr. Lazo's article in HaLapid "Confessions of a Marrano"

On Thursday, February 19, 2004, Guillermo Lazo sent an email to Barbara Rosenblum about his time in Tucson with Kulanu SW.

Subject: [Kulanu_Mexico] Tucson!

I would like to say that the Kulanu Tucson chapter is a wonderfully receptive and active chapter of Kulanu. The Friday night service at Temple Emanu-EL was novel and exciting.

I thought the talk was a little dry in the beginning, but I wanted to give a broad introduction for the group. The questions afterward were stimulating and thought provoking. I want to thank Barbara Rosenbloom and Norman Ross for organizing a great visit for us.

I have a feeling that great things will come from Tucson...

Guillermo
