Norman Garfield
Brief Bio and Suggested Introduction

Norman Garfield, is a radio journalist and commentator. For 31 years, Dr. Garfield has hosted and produced his own weekly NBC radio program, JEWISH SOUNDS/PRESENT TENSE on WRKL Radio in Rockland County, N.Y. Dr. Garfield is also a theater reviewer for The Rockland County Times in New York and a professional actor who has performed on radio, film, and stage portraying such characters as Tevya, Zorba, and Ben Franklin. He has appeared on television in The Doctors, One Life To Live among other dramatic programs and commercials.

For 41 years, he developed, implemented, and supervised education programs for multi-handicapped children and adults in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New York public schools and summer camps.

Dr. Garfield holds degrees from Temple University, Rutgers, The State University, and Yeshiva University. He has taught film courses at the State University of New York in Rockland County and at Sullivan Community College. In addition, he has been teaching at Elderhostels in different parts of the country since 1989.

Norman Garfield is a recent recipient of the prestigious Rockland County Executive's Arts Award, and holds county, state and national honors in Education and public speaking.
